How can I help my skin look younger?

The desire to look younger is inherent in every person. Do you want to know how to make your face look younger without spending thousands of dollars from your own budget? It is possible! And the most important way to make your face look younger at home is with regular, not occasional, facials and the use of collagen on a daily basis.

Collagen is a unique substance of organic origin that plays one of the key roles in the formation of tissues and maintaining their necessary functionality. No wonder the name of the protein comes from the ancient Greek “kola”, which means “glue”: in its properties, collagen really resembles this viscous substance. Protein molecules form filamentous fibrils, they bind tissue cells and create a single whole of our body. In a sense, this is the “foundation” of our body.

Collagen powder

Collagen is one of the structural proteins of human skin, which performs the function of moisturizing and protecting against the negative effects of external factors, free radicals. The formation of collagen fibers is responsible for special cells of the dermis – fibroblasts. With age, the activity of these cells decreases, resulting in the appearance of wrinkles, changes in the face oval.

Collagen plays an important role in maintaining the youth and beauty of the skin. Protein is responsible for its smoothness, strength, and elasticity. It stabilizes the oval face and evens out its tone. Collagen is also responsible for tissue regeneration after damage, accelerating healing processes.

In what form is it better to use collagen?

Powdered protein is digested a little longer than drinking. It must be diluted in yogurt, juice, soup, other liquid, or warm food. Proteins that are part of collagen will not be digested without fluid, so experts do not recommend using the powder in dry form. You will not notice the effect of collagen in this form as quickly as from the liquid. In this case, the effectiveness of collagen powder is not inferior to other analogs. After a course of using this product, there was a significant improvement in the condition of the skin, nails, hair, and more.

What do you need collagen for?

It has a moisturizing and rejuvenating effect on the skin, maintains its elasticity and resilience, smoothes the micro-relief, and evens out the complexion. Protein-containing products accelerate healing processes.

There is no age limit according to which the use of beauty formulas that contain collagen is recommended. The relevance of the use of protein is determined by the condition of the skin. Dry, dehydrated dermis needs collagen from the age of 25, normal or oily – from 30-35 years.

Sufficient collagen in the tissues provides the skin:

  • elasticity;
  • resiliency;
  • tonus.

Lack of collagen leads to:

  • loss of skin elasticity and resilience;
  • the appearance of lethargy;
  • wrinkle formation;
  • deformation of the face oval.

In addition to the natural aging processes, collagen synthesis is affected by the effects of ultraviolet radiation, beriberi, constant stress, insomnia, nicotine and alcohol abuse, poor nutrition. All the above factors can be eliminated – do not leave the house without applying UV protection cream (even in winter), give up alcohol and cigarettes, periodically drink vitamin complexes, include a sufficient amount of protein foods in your diet.

How to use collagen?

The daily rate of collagen depends on the purpose for which the substance is used. Thus, for prophylactic purposes, experts recommend taking 5g of this protein. If we are talking about therapy, the daily norm should be 10g. Collagen-based drugs are best taken 30 minutes before a meal. If the protein is taken at bedtime, then take it after a meal (2-2.5 hours). During the course of treatment or prophylaxis, preparations based on different types of collagen should be taken separately. If you use hyaluronic acid, which belongs to type II, you should not drink collagen of marine or animal origin (types I and III). In order for different types of protein to be fully digested, it is necessary to take at least an hour’s break between their intake.

Nutritionists recommend taking collagen-based courses. For prevention after three months of reception do the same on the duration of a break. For therapeutic purposes, the course should last six months, after which a break of two months is required. This scheme will provide the body with the necessary number of amino acids that will participate in the synthesis of “native” collagen. Vitamin C is very desirable in the composition of the product because without it the synthesis of this protein is impossible. The presence of this additive will ensure the binding of amino acids and the proper formation of new collagen fibers.

Contraindications and precautions

Like most supplements, collagen has some contraindications. In any case, before taking the drug it is better to consult a doctor and tell him/her about the state of health and chronic diseases. Pregnant and lactating women who plan to start taking collagen should definitely make an appointment with a doctor. The main contraindication to the intake of collagen products is individual intolerance to fish and animal proteins. In addition, you should pay attention to the composition of the selected additive. Thus, the body may react poorly, for example, to vitamin C, various extracts, or hyaluronic acid, which are often enriched with supplements. An allergic reaction to collagen is a very rare phenomenon. But if at the beginning of taking the drug there were at least the slightest signs of intolerance, use should be stopped immediately.

Concomitant restrictions include:

  1. Thrombosis and thrombophlebitis – collagen increases blood clotting.
  2. Gallstones in the gallbladder or bladder – there is a risk of an increase in the size of existing deposits and the formation of new ones.
  3. Heart failure and atherosclerosis – the substance can thicken the walls of blood vessels, thus contributing to the development of complications.

Protein preparations should be stored in a dry place out of direct sunlight. After use, the lid of the bottle with powder or tablets is tightly closed. A portion of liquid collagen after opening should be drunk completely, without leaving some for later.
